Information about Me

I am a student at Westwood High School, Evit, and the MDLP. I have taken Westwood's Web Design course, though I didn't learn much over there, except how to use frames, which don't seem to go well with standards compliance. So, I looked elsewhere, and found Patrick Griffiths' web site HTML Dog, listed below. And I must say I learned a lot about HTML and CSS by reading that site, as well as many of his and other people's articles on the A List Apart site.

Although I enjoy web design, it is only a hobby of mine. I seek a career in 3D animation and game design, and so I am taking the 3D animation course at Evit. Although I find 3DS Max hard to work with, it is easier than it seems, and has some similarities to Blender, which I am most familiar with. I find it enjoyable, however, when I find something Blender has that Max doesn't, like the ability to recalculate normals for you. In this next semester, I'm going to be learning Maya, which I think will be more fun, as I've heared it is much better than Max.

Even though many people tell you to stay away from Blender in the professional world of 3D, I highly recomend it. I have found that making some of the models that I'm required to make in Max are far easier to make in Blender, as Blender is built on speed. Sure its harder to learn, and has a very odd user interface, but think of it this way: If you learn how to use the basic functions, everything else works the same way. So, you only need to learn the basics to learn everything, unlike Max, which has everything in levels (for instance, it is just harder to get to advanced functions when simple functions are easy to get to). And, I've found that there is nothing Blender can't do that Max can... Other than N-Gons, which will be implemented soon, and in the meantime can be "Faked" by using F-Gons.

And, of course, I love playing around with images. Here is an image of me with someone else's mouth, an extra pair of eyes, gray hair, and eyebeams.
